About Kathy Comber

Kathleen Estella Comber, 87, of Charlevoix, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. Kathleen was born on February 26, 1934 in Flint, MI, the daughter of John and Irene (Himmelberger) Myers.
Kathleen married John Comber on January 26, 1957 in Flint, MI, and they raised their family there. She worked at John’s family’s business, Comber’s Markets, as an airline stewardess, as well as for GM where she retired from. They retired to Torch Lake in 1990 and moved to Charlevoix in 2016. Kathleen enjoyed tending to her flower garden, cooking, collecting rocks, and swimming. She and John attended the Belltower Reformed Church in Ellsworth for many years.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, John Comber; two children, Debbie Comber (Dennis Schneider) of Torch Lake Village and John (Melanie) Comber of Idaho; a brother, Ernie (Pat) Myers; two sisters, Carol Wallin and Edith (Dan) Diegert; and three grandchildren Charlie Comber, Noah Comber, and Amie Comber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert Myers and John Myers.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will take place at 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the Torch Lake Day Park, 12201 Pub Dock Rd., Kewadin, MI 49648. Hamburgers and ice cream will be provided by 31 Scoops. Casual dress is encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
Arrangements are in the care of the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
